Introduction: K.E. Abel

Hi everyone,

My name is K.E. Abel and I am the new Managing Editor of Abandoned Towers Magazine.  I’m incredibly excited to be here and am thrilled with the high quality submissions which I’ve seen so far.  We’ve been working hard to get things moving around here, so please spread the word that we are looking for volunteers to help out.

So, who am I?  I grew up in the suburbs of Vancouver, BC, Canada and currently live in the suburbs of Vancouver, but a lot closer to the city.  I received my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Simon Fraser University, and my Bachelor of Education at the University of British Columbia.  I have two leopard geckos who sleep until the crickets arrive.  I’ve been reading since I was 3 (The Colour Kittens was the first book I read by myself and I still remember how it  felt to understand a book by myself while I was lying on my parents’ living room carpet), writing since before I could write (my first book was a bunch of scribbles on my colouring paper, folded up into book form) and now I want to showcase excellent writing by other people.

Personally, I like to write speculative fiction and have had a short story published in the anthology “Mirror Shards: Extending the Edges of Augmented Reality” as well as winning 3rd Place in the Burnaby Writer’s Society annual writing contest.  I enjoy reading all sorts of genres, from Action to Westerns and everything in between.  I think I’ve liked at least something from every genre I’ve ever read.  I’ve got a nice collection of rejection emails from many different publications, and have kept every one of them, along with the occasional acceptance.  I also write at http://www.keabel.com and can be found on Twitter as @randomsynapses.

We’re going to have some exciting announcements over the next few months, so please stay tuned!
