Audio Guidelines
Abandoned Towers Audio Guidelines
Abandoned Towers accepts audio fiction, radio plays, audio books, and audio presentations of existing Abandoned Towers content for online publiction. These submissions must be consistent with the normal guidelines which would apply had the work been written word instead of spoken word.
Original Works
We are happy to accept audio submissions of original works, whether they be fiction, nonfiction or poetry. When submitting, follow the normal process of sending us an email but instead use the following format for your subject line: “AUDIO SUBMISSION: last name – Title”, as this helps us direct it appropriately to our Audio Editor. Also, rather than attaching the audio file, we prefer that you post the file somewhere from which it can be listened and send us a link to that location. Please ensure that you also include a brief summary of the piece as well as the overall length of the recording, as we can read faster than we can listen.
Radio Plays
Realistically, radio plays are equivalent to serialized stories. As such, we prefer that they be completed prior to acceptance. Alternatively, we would request that you include information about how many episodes (and seasons if applicable) would be included in the radio play, how many scripts have been written, how many have already been recorded, and the length of each episode. This is one of the places where further discussion is likely required to determine if Abandoned Towers would be an appropriate venue.
Audio Books
We’re open to accepting Audio Books, by which we mean: audio version of an existing print work. It is necessary that the person submitting the audio book have, or has acquired the appropriate rights to the work being read.
Existing Abandoned Towers Content
We have audio rights to the content which appears on Abandoned Towers and would be more than happy to have skilled readers record those works into audio form.
Filk
We are happy to accept submissions of Filk which are either original works, or public domain.
General Considerations
Audio submissions should only contain an audio component (no video). If you are interested in submitting a video submission, follow the guidelines for that. It is not required that audio submissions have sound effects, a score or musical sound track, but it is allowed so long as you have appropriate rights to make use of those effects, scores or music.
We do not accept audio submissions without a spoken (or potentially sung) component.
Payment and Rights:
At this time Abandoned Towers does not pay for audio content. In the case of an original work we require non-exclusive World Audio rights to the work. In the case of existing Abandoned Towers content, we retain the existing Audio rights and do not transfer those rights to the performer.
